Rabbits and Hares

These rabbit and hare sculptures and paintings explore alertness, stillness, and quiet character of the animal. I’m drawn to the way hares in particular carry a sense of tension and presence, as if paused between movement and thought.

Do I have a problem? Perhaps! But I am never bored with painting or making a hare. I find them enchanting and charming, and full of meaning. Sometimes I lean toward natural observation, sometimes adding narrative or anthropomorphic qualities, but always keep my art rooted in a close attention to these animals as both familiar and symbolic figures in the natural world.

Can you tell I have fun making my art? I hope so! And I hope you enjoy my work, too!
