ABOUT THE ARTIST
Jennifer de Mello e Souza is a Seattle-based ceramic artist and painter whose work explores the fragility of life and the quiet, inner worlds of animals. Her sculptural ceramics—often depicting animals with subtle human qualities—highlight the preciousness and individuality of each living being.
Working from her home studio, she creates hand-built ceramic animal sculptures and nature-inspired paintings that balance whimsy with careful observation. Her work is influenced by international study in the United Kingdom, Brazil, and France, including training in scientific illustration at the Muséum d’Histoire Naturelle in Paris.
Jennifer has exhibited in solo and group shows, including the Edmonds Art Studio Tour. In addition to her studio practice, she teaches Ceramics and Art History, and leads workshops in watercolor and clay.
