Making a Rose

Make a ceramic rose. Looking at photos of roses, build a rose form, starting with the center of the rose and adding clay petals to the outside. Students will score and slip each petal, and score then smooth the back of the rose, trimming extra clay so the rose is no thicker than 1 inch.

Option clay hanger- build a hanger on the back of your flower. Either pierce a hole through the back for a wire, or add a clay loop with score and slip to hang on a nail.

If available, student can insert a high fire wire hook into the back of the rose, making sure that it is inserted about 1/8” into the clay, and that the loop will extend from the rose to hook over a nail in the wall.
