Recent Work

Nature studies based in natural science illustration, these works are an exploration of whimsy, beauty, and love of all things in nature. My desire to call attention to the fragility of life, the precious quality in each being, and the idea that each creature has a secret life is infused in each piece. Landscapes are made from memories of time, and the primal longing to get outside.

My current work falls into two categories: painting and ceramics. I am a teaching artist, and most of all, an eternal student. It fuels my growth and curiosity.

Testimonial

“I recently commissioned Jennie to create a ceramic portrait of our family papillon (Rocket). I have seen Jennie's work at the Edmonds Arts Festival and visited her studio this fall during the studio tour. I've always loved the emotion and humor in her work, and since my dog is basically a rabbit in disguise (and she makes wonderful rabbits!), I felt Jennie was up to the challenge of capturing the many moods of Rocket.

I resisted the urge to make suggestions about Rocket's presentation (dress and accessories) and I am so happy that I just let Jennie create her vision of Rocket from the photos I gave her. Within a month, she presented us with what is now a cherished part of our art collection. Rocket seems to be coming around to it too. Thank you Jennie.”
